Questions and answers about Monthend
Are you a tech company or a professional services company?
We’re the best construction accountants on the planet. Daily construction bookkeeping and controller services for real-time decision making. Monthend has dozens of professional bookkeepers and controllers who know construction and work inside the tools you already use, like Buildertrend.
We work hand in hand with Controllr.ai, which is Financial automation and cashflow intelligence for builders, developers, trade contractors, and their accountants
I'm behind on bookkeeping and taxes. Can you get me caught up?
You betcha! One of the first things we do is get your books caught up. We know how important it is to build from a square and level foundation.
No matter how far behind you are (even years), we can get your books and your taxes cleaned up and caught up.
Where is your team located and what are their qualifications?
Monthend is headquartered in Minnesota and our team of U.S. based accountants can be found throughout the country.
You will work closely and directly with a highly skilled team of U.S. based construction accountants. You’re assigned a Bookkeeper to do the daily lifting and a Controller to oversee quality, meet with you monthly, and keep you moving in the right direction.
Many of our Monthend associates have accounting degrees or professional certifications like CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CCIFP (Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional), and all of our associates have deep knowledge of construction project management systems like Buildertrend and Jobtread.
What do my bookkeeper and controller do?
Your bookkeeper job-costs your transactions into your systems (e.g. Buildertrend, Jobtread, etc.), categorizes your non-job transactions in Quickbooks, reconciles your accounts, and produces your financial statements.
Your controller executes quality checklists and performs the more complicated transactions and adjustments, like your monthly WIP adjustment. They also make adjustments to your books to ensure they’re tax-compliant. Your controller is your primary point person and you’ll meet with them regularly!
You can also book a call with your controller (or send them a message) whenever you’d like. There’s no extra fee or hourly charges for support if it’s within our regular scope—we’re always happy to help!
How do you get our transaction data for daily bookkeeping?
Introducing “Ground Control” by Controllr.ai, a company and a tool built specifically to help construction firms automate the simple aspects of their construction accounting, like capturing details of each transaction (i.e. receipt image, job, cost code) and getting those details into the hands of the accounting team.
For Buildertrend users already using the Buildertrend Job Cost Inbox, we’re happy to jump in and work with that as well!
We work inside Buildertrend, Jobtread, and Quickbooks Online to ensure we’re getting a 360 degree view of your jobs and your company.
There are some times that we’ll request other documents from you (like account statements or tax related documents), just to ensure the information we have is correct. More sensitive documents like that are uploaded and shared in our secure portal.
What makes Monthend the best choice for my construction company?
Check out our reviews on Google. If you want a white-glove, 5 star experience, then we’re the right choice for you.
If you’re looking for a construction accounting firm with true expertise in construction and in your systems (e.g. Buildertrend, Jobtread, Quickbooks Online, etc.), with highly trained real accountants who care as much about your company as you do, then Monthend is the simple and best choice.
If you’re looking for a bargain, then Monthend isn’t it. Although, Monthend is usually 1/4th the price compared to hiring a full-time, in-house accountant.
